Mexico international Hirving "Chucky" Lozano fought back tears as he was seen off the pitch for the final time as a PSV player ahead of a move to San Diego. The winger, who has been a crucial part of Peter Bosz's squad over the last 18 months, has probably seen his European career come to an end after completing a high-profile move to San Diego FC as the club's first designated player.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Lozano enjoyed an immensely successful European career after moving from Liga MX side Pachuca to PSV in 2017. He spent two stints in the Eredivisie with the dutch club, either side of a tenure in Napoli, picking up four major trophies in seven years in Europe. His most significant accomplishment in Europe might have came in Italy as he was part of the Napoli squad that ended the Gli Azzurri's 23-year wait for a Serie A trophy in 2023. He will join San Diego starting January as the club begins its first season in MLS.

San Diego starts preseason in the new year. The expansion franchise have already gone about filling their roster, picking up a number of talents from the expansion draft, selecting Manu Duah as the No. 1 overall pick in the SuperDraft, and signing Nottingham Forest winger Alex Mighten. They have been linked with other marquee signings, including a move for Man City's Kevin De Bruyne.
