  • WHAT HAPPENED?

After 18 months out of management, ex-Chelsea boss Lampard succeeded Mark Robins at the Championship outfit in November. After overseeing a 2-2 draw against lowly Cardiff City in his first match in charge, the former England international has laid out his plans for the Sky Blues – saying he only knows "one way" to achieve success.

    WHAT FRANK LAMPARD SAID

He told reporters: "I only know one way which is generally the work you put in on the training ground – how you try and address any issue is the way to turn that corner if confidence is an issue. Winning games helps everything, helps the whole process, the timing and feeling of it around the place and that's been something that has not been done for a while. Not that we are losing every week, and we are certainly not far away from where we want to be in terms of getting a result and we want to build on that. Results are crucial to building that confidence."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Coventry narrowly missed out on the Championship play-offs last season and were a whisker away from making the FA Cup final earlier this year. Lampard is succeeding a very popular coach in Robins and after a dismal second spell as Chelsea manager in 2023, he has a lot to prove to show he can be a successful manager. They sit 16th in the league but Lampard will be tasked with firing them up the table as soon as possible.

    WHAT NEXT?

Former Derby County manager Lampard will hope to lead his Coventry side to their first win of his tenure when they travel to play-off-chasing Millwall in what will be a tricky test at The Den.
