  • WHAT GILBERTO SAID

Talking to The Athletic, the Brazilian World Cup winner said: “I don’t like to compare because it was a different time when we won. We had World Cup winners, myself, Thierry, Patrick Vieira, and Sylvain Wiltord. Olympic champions Lauren and Kanu, we had Dennis Bergkamp. We were international players at the highest level in the world.

“Now they are in the process of building up their profile, their career and establishing themselves. We need to go one step further, let’s show hunger to win trophies. If we win today, then I want to win tomorrow. We win the cup today, what’s the next one? We win the FA Cup, I want the Premier League. When you win, you understand it, you smell it.

“Their mission is high, every time I speak to them, they want to do it,” he says. “They were very close to winning the league last season and all of us who love the club were frustrated. Maybe two years ago people didn’t put Arsenal in the running for the title, now they really consider them.”

  • WHAT NEXT FOR ARSENAL?

The Gunners will be eagerly looking forward to this weekend's clashes as the club will take on Brentford on Saturday, March 9. They will also be very interested in what goes down when their title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City take on each other on Sunday.
