In the early hours of Thursday morning, Jota, 28, and his 26-year-old brother Andre were involved in a horrific crash near Palacios de Sanabria in Spain. Reports indicate they were on their way to catch a ferry bound for the UK in preparation for Liverpool's preseason when their Lamborghini lost control, veered off the road, and caught fire upon impact.

The club had initially intended to begin preseason training last Friday, but following Jota’s passing, all plans were put on hold. When the squad did return on Tuesday, they were greeted by a sea of floral arrangements and tributes at the training centre. Many of these memorials were inscribed with the iconic Liverpool anthem line: "You'll Never Walk Alone," a phrase that has become a symbol of the club’s unity and compassion in moments of tragedy.

The left-back left a heartfelt handwritten message at a growing memorial site outside Anfield, which read: "Our hearts are broken. But feeling very grateful for the memories you gave us all.
